About

Hi there, my name is Jane (no joke), I’m in my early 30’s, and I live in Vermont.

Like so many fellow Americans, I’m overweight; technically speaking, if you want to get right down to it, I’m fat.  Or, if you prefer going for medical terminology, which for whatever reason seems less harsh, I fall into the “obese” catagory.  I’m 5’9″ and I weigh a staggering 278lbs.  This means I’ve got a BMI of 41.  Even if I were “big boned”, I’m still way over the healthy mark.

It could be due to the amount of cheese I inhale, or drowning my pancakes (because those aren’t fatty…) in the sugary delight that is Vermont Maple Syrup.  Maybe it’s all the takeout when I’m too tired to cook for myself.  Yes, I admit it, I eat McDonalds.  Or maybe it’s my overall lack of activity; sure, I use the stairs while I’m at work (desk job), but I doubt even 10 flights a day and a 20 minute walk with my dog is enough to consider myself “active”.

Whatever the reason, it’s time for some big changes, the sooner, the better.

No diet pills, just eating healthier (calorie counting, along with focusing on nutrition) and a good amount of exercise.  I’m going to start by signing up to swim, and my dog is going to start getting a morning walk with me (usually my son takes the dog out before school, then again when he gets home, and I take him out at night).

I’ll be updating once a week with current weigh ins (even if they’re not positive), calorie information for said week, and whatever else I can think of that’s “important”.

If there are any other dieters out there with tips (no pills or fad diets, please, if those worked I’d be at my goal weight by now!), I want to hear them.
